You may know Tavi Gevinson as the sassy high school fashion blogger/feminist extraordinaire, but now you can witness her talent from an entirely different platform in the new film Cadaver, written and directed by Jonah D. Ansell. Tavi has a killer style and serious knack for writing that transcends her age. At just 15 years old, she is the founder and editor-in-chief of Rookie, an online magazine that speaks to all the girls out there who refuse to read dumbed down articles about how to impress boys, lose weight, or dress like everyone else. It makes sense, really, that such a counter culture icon would only move on to produce more outstanding work in other mediums.

Neil Young has given his blessing to Tavi, allowing her to perform her own rendition of his #1 hit, Heart of Gold (OK he doesn’t do that for just anyone, she’s kind of a badass for this). The song is set to the 2D animated short film, Cadaver. According to Tavi herself, it is the “least sappy” kind of love story, which we are pleased to hear. She lends her voice to the main character, starring alongside Kathy Bates and Christopher Lloyd, so its safe to say the cast rules. The film is seven minutes long and details the journey of an elderly cadaver who awakens to say one last goodbye to his wife, only to discover a truth in death he never knew in life.

The song and movie will be available for purchase by download later this year and we couldn’t be more excited. Check the films website here to find a screening in your area and follow on twitter @cadaverthemovie.
